Recently I have…

(Context: I read a blog post on Informationally Overloaded and I thought the format was rather cool. So here’s my own.)

Recently I have…

.. read the book Purple Cow by Seth Godin. It’s about the importance of being remarkable in business. It’s a short read long on food for thought.

… rediscovered my love for the poet Brian Patten. I used to obsess about the Mersey Beat poets when I was 16 and I dug the books out at the weekend and Patten’s poems, again, moved me. I can’t recommend his love poems enough. I particularly like: And nothing is ever as perfect as you want it to be.

… been reflecting on William Blake and his life and work. A poignant, moving concert (and an evening that I’m unlikely to forget) got me thinking. Not least because it was thrilling to belt out Jerusalem in the Abbey. And last night, mysteriously, when I was reading Patten’s poems, a postcard of Blake fell from it.

… enjoyed Ugly Vase.

… watched about 10 episodes of Yes, Minister. It’s awfully good.

… spent too much time on Facebook. Yup, no excuse.

… wondered what I’m going to do for my thirtieth birthday. Still, it’s in October so plenty of time yet. All previous plans are off!
