Why I'm not and never to Vote Green...

the green party are no logner and primarily concerned with 'Green' issues and the struggle to balance modernity with environmental concern. They are only interested in aligning themselves with/to whatever border/fringe group to obtain more voters and votes. I wish for the people of Brighton to actively use their forthcoming vote to get them out of the city(council/focus groups and committees) for good, and for the good and future oif this fair city of ours....

Al Shaw,

I simply cannot see how you can be anti-capitalist and pro-business. Businesse pursues profit, profit is surely a capitalist concept.

Your small, owner run businesses sound more like cooperatives or syndicates in this context. I don't accept that these are businesses in a meaningful sense of the word as we understand it now.

One specific point: being anti-capitalist does not, as you state, automatically mean being anti-business.

Distributism (which is not, necessarily, Green Party policy) sees an appropriate response to the obvious failure of developed capitalism as lying in the creation of significantly more businesses, not in fewer.

The distinctive, however, is that these businesses need to be owner-run and small-scale.

Seeking structural limits on how large an individual corporation can become is not anti-business but is anti-developed-capitalism.

@Gordon, Anyone can find problems. It's finding smart viable solutions which are hard.

And as far as I can see by Dan and others, the problem is with their policy. Not even the details, but the direction. They are anti-science and anti-technology. After that the details don't make sense, as I can't see how they will solve any of these problems that we are presented with.

Pfft. The party has no links with Peta. Is Peta even active in the UK?

On the other policies: I agree with them.

Sure they're not always fully explained in utmost detail, but that's how the Green Policy process works. It comes from the grassroots, and evolves. Problems are found in it and can be fixed. It is not made on the hoof by elected representatives, or Leaders.

Where is the body of Labour Policy and political philosophy for us to inspect? Or should we be happy with a manifesto that will be different year on year, depending on what the Tories are doing?

Caroline Lucas is a very intelligent and articulate person, but if you look deeper it's pretty clear the party has strong links with peta.

Peta members are as bad as the bnp. Go see for yourself if you disbelieve me. Look at peta's website and forum, look at how much it ties in with the green manifesto.

You know when you know that there's no chance of your party being elected to run the country and all you'll get are a sparse sprinkling of bods to cause a bit of trouble making it gives so much flexibility in a manifesto.

Who cares if the sums don't add up when everyone knows you'll never have to deliver?
